Founder, Salty Clay — formerly Hands on Art for Children

Iraima Otteson

Iraima Otteson is the founder and heart behind Salty Clay. Originally from Venezuela and trained in Graphic Design, she brings over 20 years of experience as both an artist and educator. As founder, Iraima oversees all areas of studio operations—ensuring everything from class planning to customer service runs smoothly and upholds our core values.

Her mission has always been to create a space where creativity, community, and confidence can thrive. She believes every child is a creator and works to make art education accessible, encouraging students to grow through imagination, effort, and fearless exploration. Iraima’s vision continues to shape Salty Clay into a welcoming, enriching environment for families and artists of all ages.

Meet Our Leadership Team!

Art Director

Ambrosia Esparza

As Art Director, Ambrosia brings creative vision, structure, and heart to everything we do at Salty Clay. This role is central to shaping the art experiences we offer—from lesson planning and student exhibitions to the overall studio atmosphere. Ambrosia ensures that every project is both educational and engaging, helping students of all ages grow in confidence, skill, and self-expression. Her role also includes guiding the artistic direction of our programs and mentoring fellow instructors to keep our classes fresh, fun, and full of purpose.

Outside the studio, Ambrosia just got married in April 2025 and is currently pursuing her BFA in Sequential Art at SCAD. She enjoys running half marathons with her new husband whenever they get the chance, making art of all kinds, and building community through creativity.

Marketing Coordinator/Social Media Lead 

Brynn Perrenoud

Brynn is the creative force behind our digital presence. As Social Media Lead, she manages our Instagram and crafts the email newsletters that keep our community in the loop. Brynn has a gift for capturing the heart of Salty Clay and sharing it with others—whether it’s highlighting student work, promoting upcoming events, or simply spreading a little artistic joy online.

At Salty Clay, we believe social media is more than just posts and pictures—it’s a way to keep our community informed, inspired, and involved. From last-minute class openings to behind-the-scenes peeks, we use our platforms to make sure families always know what creative opportunities are available.

In the studio, Brynn’s favorite activity is painting ceramics. When she’s not at Salty Clay, you’ll find her flower pressing, songwriting, and thrifting. She’s been with us for a year now, and we’re so excited to keep growing together!

Pottery Wheel Director

Kellene Greenwood

As Pottery Director, Kellene is the creative heartbeat of our ceramics program here at Salty Clay. With a calm presence and a deep love for the medium, she welcomes guests to our studio for walk-in hand-building, wheel sessions, and structured classes. Whether it’s your first time touching clay or you’re returning for your tenth piece, Kellene makes sure you feel inspired, supported, and excited to get your hands dirty.

With years of experience in clay and a lifelong commitment to creative expression, Kellene leads with a hands-on, approachable style that encourages play, experimentation, and growth. She’s always exploring new techniques and styles—often diving into spontaneous craft projects and journaling sessions outside the studio. Her ability to stay curious and open-minded brings a fresh, evolving energy to our pottery space.

Outside of her role at Salty Clay, Kellene is a devoted mom to her daughter and enjoys spending her time immersed in the artful rhythm of everyday life. From sketching ideas to trying new crafts, she embodies the belief that creativity doesn’t stop when class ends—it’s a lifestyle.

Art Class Teacher

Victoria Cabanerio 

As an Art and Painting Intructor and Sales Associate, Victoria brings creativity, warmth, and heart to every corner of Salty Clay. Whether she’s leading a painting class or welcoming guests at the front desk, Victoria’s friendly spirit and artistic passion help create a positive and inviting studio experience. Her ability to connect with others through art makes her a favorite among students and customers alike.

Originally from Venezuela, Victoria has loved creating art since childhood. She’s currently studying Graphic Design and brings that fresh perspective into her work at the studio—blending technique with personal expression in every class she teaches. Her goal is to inspire, encourage, and build meaningful connections through every artistic experience.

When she’s not painting or studying, Victoria enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new ideas, and staying inspired by the world around her.

Our Sales Associates are the friendly faces who help make your experience at Salty Clay smooth and enjoyable. From checking you in for classes and assisting with walk-in pottery painting to carefully bagging your finished pieces and contacting you when they’re ready for pickup, our team is here to support you every step of the way. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning regular, they’re always happy to answer questions, offer guidance, and help you feel right at home in the studio.

Halle

As a Sales Associate, Halle brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a welcoming energy to Salty Clay. She’s one of the team members who will help check you into classes, set you up for ceramic painting, and make sure birthday parties run smoothly from start to finish. Halle loves being part of the behind-the-scenes magic that helps make your art experience easy and enjoyable.

Currently a junior in high school, Halle is involved in both mountain biking and musical theatre. She’s always had a love for art, especially acrylic painting and scrapbooking. One of her favorite parts of working at Salty Clay is getting to see the amazing artwork that customers like you create every day.
